Over 1500 people attended the concert which honoured our veterans and celebrated Canada's 150th Birthday with traditional songs from the war era including that of Vera Lynn. The chorus was able to donate $6,000 towards the Royal Canadian Legion No. 6 and 3290 lbs of food to the Food Depot Alimentaire and a $1,000 Scholarship to a local high school student.
The concert was dedicated to Mary Butler, wife of our director Peter Butler who passed away just weeks before the concert and who would have wanted the concert to go on as she was one of the MetroTones biggest supporters. Mary and Peter were married for 56 years and together they raised 3 children. Mary supported and encouraged Peter in his love of music, particularly his work with the MetroTones. We were blessed to have had her in this world and she will be dearly missed.
